Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) during plane travels

People spend most of their time indoors. Studies show that it can make up for 90% each day! Beside being at home or in the office, also travelling and commuting to and from work / school etc. is included.

While many studies show the importance of good indoor air quality (IAQ) in buildings, the situations during commuting and other travels are less in the spotlight.

This summer we had to travel within the EU. Due to time restrictions, we were by plane and used the situation to measure IAQ during different flights.

For these measurements we used an airQ IAQ monitor (Corant GmbH) and measured CO2, particulate matter concentrations (PM1, PM2.5, PM10) as well as particle numbers. Out of curiosity, we also made indicative measurements of TVOC to see, if the use of hand disinfectant has an impact on the overall TVOC concentrations.
