Dust monitoring & testing at work and at home

Do you or your company need fine dust measured in the office, production hall, warehouse, residential buildings, stables, construction site or other outdoor locations?

At Aristotle Consulting, we have the right measurement equipment and expertise for your fine dust testing!

Who do we monitor fine dust (particulate matter)?

For environmental and indoor air monitoring, we use continuous recording measurement devices. These devices are equipped with an optical particle counter (OPC). The measured data are stored by a data logger, which can be read after the measurement or even monitored online in real time during the measurement. Real-time measurement data is recorded and stored in the cloud and displayed in real-time via a dashboard.

We use devices from TSI, Aeroqual, Air-Q en Airthinx, among others. This allows measuring dust concentrations of size classes PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10 and TSP, or counting the number of particles of different dust size classes.

We offer three different procedures for measuring particulate matter:

Screening tests

During a screening test (or preliminary measurement) we measure either PM2.5 and PM10 in µg/m³ or count particles in different size channels in one or more rooms during one session. The monitoring will be performed in accordance with ISO 16000.

Before the actual measurement we do a short inspection of the premises (ventilation system, windows, outside traffic, furniture and floorings, etc.) and ask for the reasons of the measurement.

The client will receive a short report with the measurement results without tables and figures.

The visit will take at least one hour, the report will be sent by email immediately.

Short-term monitoring

The short-term monitoring will be performed following standard ISO 16000. We measure the specific pollutant in one or more rooms during one session.

Before the actual visit, the client will receive a questionnaire which has to be filled in and returned before the actual measurement.

Before the actual measurement we do an inspection of the premises (ventilation system, windows, outside traffic, furniture and floorings, etc.) and ask for the reasons of the measurement.

During the measurement, we will log the data within the rooms and perform – if necessary – an outdoor PM measurement for comparison.

Immediately after the measurement, the client gets a short verbal report, followed by a written report via email including figures and tables and evaluation of the questionnaire. The report will be sent within one week.

The visit will take minimum two hours (measuring one room) and will be in general in the morning.

Long-term monitoring

The long-term monitoring is basically following the same procedure as the short-term monitoring. The differences are:

  • The logging takes in general one week to cover most of the daily life activities in the premises.
  • The client has to keep a logbook where is written when the air got changed, carpets were vacuumed etc.
  • After one week the data loggers are dismounted and the results from the logbook are discussed. During this, we also give a short overview of the results.
  • The final report will be sent by email within 7 working days.
